so i searched around and couldn't find any posts on this...
i just got an old Italian steel frame and im fixing it up with old campy record. However my frame does not have cable guides on the toptube... are there ones i can put on there or will the cable be fine not attached to anything but the breaks?
thanks

they were meant to be attached with cable clips/clamps. They seem to go for less than $20 on ebay if you have a 1" top tube. Search for Campagnolo brake cable clips. This sort of question works better in the C&V forum
You might even hurt yourself if you don't use the clips. If nothing else, you can use wire ties until you can get something better.
