So I can get my hands on a really nice frame with a wrecked downtube, probably for free. The rest of it seems in good order, but I will definitely have a pro look it over. I was just wondering what the typical going rate on putting a new downtube in a frame would be. Thanks guys.

Probably around $250 for a lugged steel frame, plus you'll need new paint. However, depending upon how the frame was wrecked, you might need more than just a downtube.

if you get a decent paint job, the question you have to ask yourself is "how much will that free frame cost?" Depending on how the downtube is messed up, it's likely that other tubes are also messed up
