Specialized Tricross Dropouts

Hi, I would like to upgrade the wheels on my tricross. I have a pair of XTR hubs to build into a decent pair of touring wheels the trouble is, the hubs are 135mm as opposed to the tricross's 130mm. I know with a steel frame that it is possible to reset the dropouts to 135mm but i'm not sure that it is possible with an Alloy frame. Does anyone have any experience of what I would like to achive.

change the spacing on the axle by 2.5mm on each side. changing a frame to accommodate a wheelset is ridiculous.

Cold setting is generally not a satisfying experience with aluminum.

Have you tried putting the hub in the frame without cold setting?
