Old Colnago has cracked dropout. Can it be repaired? (picture)
On the right rear dropout, just aft of the chainstay joint, my old Colnago Super has developed a crack. Looking closely, under a respray job, I think there was a previous repair. The crack is on one side only, outer side, does not go through, and does not move or flex. I can ride the bike, but obviously can't live with this.
Can this be mig welded or does one have to rebraze?
Thanks for any advice. Many have dealt with this type of question before on this forum, I'm sure.

I don't know anything about framebuilding, but those are some pretty dropouts.

I had a similar failure on the driveside dropout of my '87 Paramount. It was repaired by Paul Sadoff (Rock Lobster Custom Cycles). Paul cut a "V" groove where the crack was and TIG welded the V groove. He then ground the weld beads flush with surface of the dropout.
The repair has held up well.

After (I also had the frame repainted):

Thanks Stan, for info and helpful pics. I was referred over here from Mechanics forum, where TIG welding was suggested.
