Oxygen Generators revisited

Weigh 53 pounds and cost $400.
They are refurbed and upgraded medical units.
Their suitability to your individual needs is you'll have to figure out yourself.
This probably has the greatest potential in helping the UK folks with their bottle restrictions provided their budget can absorb the initial outlay.

I wonder what shipping is. I had a deal all set up for 300, but was feeling queasy about all the money going out the door before Xmas, so I didn't do it. If a referbed unit will do 4 torches, maybe the single guy can get away with a local unit.
As far as the UK is concerned, the only thing if importing would be to check if there is any kind of medical related problem with bringing it in. They are so adamant about how the safe dosage must be prescribed, I am surprised there isn't a rule against getting one without a prescription.

I kinda liked the whole use your natural gas, and your O2 approach that guy who made marbles had. I need to check whether I can just stretch condom over my burner orifice and use the heater, at least during the summer.

First, on LPG, you'll need to increase your tip size by 1 to 2 sizes - if you were using a #2 Victor tip with oxy-acetylene for example, you'll need to use a #3 or 4 on oxy-propane. My #4 Victor on oxy-propane consumes 2.5 LPM @ 6 PSI (the regulator is set at 9 PSI due to a loss through the 10 ft. of 3/16" hose). Also, when you increase the volume on the concentrator (yes, volume is adjustable, but not pressure), the oxygen purity goes down. On my older Invacare, much above 3.5 LPM, purity dropped below 87% - not good, whereas my DeVilbiss maintains 94% above 4 LPM.

I've been wanting to verify the specs on my unit. But it works fine so far... Is there an easy way to set-up an inline pressure gauge?

My older Invacare only had a non-removable tapered barbed outlet, so I just cut-off the hose fitting and slipped the hose on the OC. On my DeVilbiss (shown below), the plastic barbed fitting is removable, and when I removed it, discovered that my kevlar hose (which has 'B' fittings on one end), screws right on the OC outlet. The same kevlar hose has 'A' fittings on the torch end, so it attaches directly to the torch without adapters.

thanks! I was looking at the tees, but didn't consider barbed fittings (the simplest solution of course).
My unit (New Life Elite) also has a ''B'' fitting, perfect for hoses.
Also, how do you figure out the consumption? I seem to be able to draw 3+ lpm even on my #2 victor. That's with only oxy, no flame.

Here is are some operating instructions for a lamp worker using the O2 concentrator. Take them for what they are worth.
1 - Attach the oxygen hose coming from your torch to your concentrator/generator. You will not need an oxygen regulator.
2 - Attach the propane hose coming from your torch to the propane regulator that is already on your tank.
3 - Open the oxygen valve on your torch.
4 - Plug your concentrator/generator in.
5 - Turn your concentrator/generator on.
6 - Adjust your concentrator/generator flow until the float ball is just below the top line. This will give you better oxygen purity. The float ball should stay at or near the position you set it while working.
7 - Let your concentrator/generator run for 10-15 minutes before you begin working.
8 - Close the oxygen valve on your torch just long enough to light your propane then re-open the valve and adjust your falme. 9 - DO NOT turn your concentrator/generator off if you are just taking a short break. It is best to turn off your torch and crack the oxygen valve open and let the concentrator/generator run if you will be away from the torch for only a short while. Turning your concentrator/generator off and on for short periods of time increases the possibility of damaging the sieve beds.
10 - When you are through for the day, turn off your torch and open the oxygen valve. Turn off your concentrator/generator and allow the hose to bleed through the torch.
