First frame suggestions. Lugged city fixed/ss frame for 6' 170lbs.
I am doing research on materials, and since this will be my first build, I want to work with something that is reasonable to manage. Sorry for the lengthiness, but want to get all the details. The bike i would like to build:
My ideal city bike:
Singlespeed/fixed, Road geometry (73*-74* HT angle), lugged, canti brake mounts (that are removable if possible), clearance for 32m tires w/ fenders. or 35mm otherwise. 1" Threaded HS and lugged. I am looking for this to be agile, but not at all intending it to be a track frame.
My first thought was to throw on some sliding dropouts, since it would make it a breeze working with fenders and fixed/ss when removing the wheel, but with the cost so high compared to rear-facing (not even considering the added difficulty), i think i will just go with rear facing track drops.
As for tubing, lugs and BB, this is where i am not so sure. Being 170lbs, i think that going for oversized makes sense, for stiffness and strength with little added weight. So my research is pointing me towards the Nova .8/.5/.8
OS road tubeset. Thoughts?
As for lugs, I have been leaning towards Stainless, since the cost is very close to the same as non-stainless. Is there much difference in brazing the two? I am looking SS vs non.
As for BB, I know that lugged would be the easiest, but will i be able to fit big tires easily using one like this one. Or to fit large ties, will i have to do some fillet brazing?
