    Have I gone insane?

Couldn't sleep and had an idea... custom carbon fiber frames seem to be becoming more common, I've seen a few tutorials that gave me this idea. What if you were to take latex tubing meant for holding gas/liquids and create a frame skeleton when inflated, then wrap that in the carbon fiber while it's rigid as long you left yourself a valve, you could keep this inner skeleton inflated with helium.. I don't know that this would be hugely beneficial and I know helium tires and considered silly.. but you just never know

Yes, you have. The bladders and valves would weigh more than the helium would "save".

Well I can't see why you need the bladders and valves but even without them the idea has little merit. The internal volume of my (quite large) frame is about 2 litres. Air has a density of about 1.2 g / litre while Helium has a density of about 0.2 g/l .

    Nett difference: 2 g.

LoL was an insomniac night and I knew the idea was probably bad, but I had to check.
