Trailer from spare frame?

Hi folks
I have a half-formed thought, and am trying to figure if it is worth the other half. I have a spare Nashbar aluminum frame, essentially identical to the frame I ride. I have no planned use for it, but then started thinking about making a one wheeled trailer from it.

Does this stand a chance of being doable? Basic thought was to cut the down tube off and replace it with a curved brace connecting the seat tube to the top tube, attaching close to the BB and prolly mid way on the top tube. Thought was to modify the head tube as a seatpost clamp.

I don't weld, but have access to a guy who is an outstanding welder with aluminum. I also have access to a machine shop for fab of connecting pieces.

I have several old external frame backpacks, and was planning to attach them as panniers to the frame, trying to center them over the rear wheel.

I'm I nuts? Or more specifically, is this project nuts? :)

if your welder friend values his time, the project is nuts. Steel frames are much more amenable to this sort of thing

Thanks.

I posted from work, thinking it was hair brain, Got home and started mocking up the frame and realized how implausible it is.

The frame makes great wall art and will remain as such.
