You already have one- it's called a brain.

No wonder I loved cycling so much as a kid, though- I had nothing but single-speeds till I was 13. The less crap you have on your bike to occupy your thoughts, the more you think about riding, and stop thinking about the bike. With all the technological junk and electronics some have on their bikes today, I'd guess that their cycling experiences are so different than ours as to be in a different universe.

They have those already- they're called Gatorskins. I know I should not say this [Not even THINK it, really.... ] but, I haven't gotten a flat since I switched to Gators a few years ago.
I have Gatorskins on my Felt. They are flat resistant, but far from flat proof. I somehow got a flat on the rear on a group ride from a piece of glass. I would love flat proof, guaranteed, no flats no tubes no slime, just a flat proof tire.

That is quite alright with me. My commute gives me 35 feet or so of elevation, and there are no mountains here. Not even close. I have lived in Colorado and have ridden enough mountains. I find that to be less than enjoyable. And who says I can't ride them on a fixed gear?

I also rode a FG for a long time. They are nice for short and flat rides. But they miss out on lots of other things - mountains, carving fast downhill turns, doing long rides at an efficient effort, riding comfortably with and against strong winds, etc.

I have done a few long rides as well. I got a few looks from some of the "roadies" when they saw my single cog. That is alright, because I kept up with them at their pace.
