What Size Frame should I get?
Hey all, Been lurking in these forums for ages, Just reading.. GREAT stuff around.
Im new to mountain biking, but just about to order a Kona Caldera 04 model (found a good deal)
Now before I order. I really don't know what frame size to get.
Im 6ft 3" Slim build. My inside leg is about 35/36 cm's
I want to get it right, as mail order will be a pain to return the bike. And its limited stock of the 04 models, Only a few left.
Thanks alot.

Sizing has been beaten nearly to death, use the search function to get better ideas.
Don't know the sizing scale for Kona, but I would think18" or 19" would be better than the 21". You won't know till you put your butt on it. So I'd avoid mail order as well

New to MTB, buying online, and no idea of size? May the force be with you...
You really won't know until you've ridden it. The differences in feel between the 18", 19", 20" and 21" aren't something that anyone else can tell you about - you can take two riders with exactly the same physical dimensions, and they may both prefer different sizes. Sizing on an MTB isn't as scientific as it is for a roadie... it's more about feeling comfortable with handling the bike in the conditions you intend to ride.
I'm hoping you mean 35/36 inch inseam... otherwise that's one huge torso, stumpy!

Eh, well, just FYI. I'm 5'7" with 30" inseam, and I have an 18" MTB frame that actually feels too big for me. Especially the top tube seems too long.

I love bike calculators... shows I need a 70 cm road bike with a 64.5 cm TT (something wrong here!)

i'm 6'0 and have a 21 inch kona nunu frame
boy is that TOO big for me
i'd say for a 6'3 person, go for the 20
if you're doing real downhilling, maybe even the 19

Please for the love of obi wan go get on some bike. If you are really past 6'2 than a 21" is ok. 23" Might be better. All depends on how you want your legs. SLIGHTLY BENT ON THE PEDALS...not FULLY extended!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unfortunetly, Im in a VERY rural area. with little means of transport (untill i get my bike) so trying out others isn't a practical possibility really.
We live on a mostly self contained farm in uk, so don't need to travel out very much at all.
fun I know.... :-(
So mail orders mainly my only option.
I'll go for a 20" Apprently its better to round down with Mountain bikes.

I guess I was right after all - and with no sizing calculator!
