Hello there, newb here.

Hi there!
So a brief background about me, I'm am currently in Malaysia though I live between Malaysia, Dubai and Singapore... In september i will be off to Edinburgh to enroll in my Architecture Degree at UoE. I've been running for the last 4 years, the past year taking it seriously doing 50 miles a week... What i love the most with running is getting from one location to another, the scenery and the ability to do so with oxygen and fat as fuel! Obviously, if that was my favorite thing about running i had thought it would be a good idea to pick up cycling as i would be able to cover more distance in a shorter amount of time, also i can ramp up the weekly millage without being prone to injury, or so i have researched. I'm fairly fit, i can do 10k under 40 minutes, so hopefully some of my fitness would prove helpfull. Anyway! upon buying a bicycle i understand bike fit is the most important thing, so this puts second hand bicycles out of the question?
Also i notice that guys say don't get carbon cause it may snap, but what if the carbon bike has lifetime warranty?
Also, it would make sense to buy my bicycle in Edinburgh, however. would it be cheaper to buy it in Singapore/Dubai/Malaysia? A brand new Cannondale CAAD10 105 '15 in Edinburgh cost about 1300GBP/2000USD, is this over priced? If anyone can take a look at that website to check if those prices are fair? If i can get a cheaper bicycle in Singapore/Malaysia/Dubai and decided to get it there, is putting it in the original bike box and bringing it with me safe for the bike? Any and all additional info and tips is welcome!
THANK YOU
P.S. Also if you are from Edinburgh and a cyclist please feel free to PM me your details, i wouldn't mind having some cycling friends

Best to buy a used bike that fits in Edinburgh.

Flying with a bike can be expensive.
