Is this a good thing? Will you shop there or support your lbs?
FYI: near Roswell Road (Alpharetta Hwy) and Holcomb Bridge Road.

Just asking because I've never been to a Performance store. I "try" to support my favorite bike shops but I'll admit I buy from Performance occasionally. Most online shopping is with Nashbar, STP, velowear.com, Supergo, and bicyclinghub.com

If you're a local and interested, here is a coupon that came to me in an email.

Holy Crap Batman! I just checked the Performance website. They are planning on opening three stores in Atlanta. The other two are near the REI stores in Atlanta. One will be along the I-85 access road (south side of I-85) and the other will be across from Perimeter Mall.
Are they doing battle with REI???

I will be hitting the Performance store whenever I'm up in the Atlanta area. I support my LBS as best I can but Performance has stuff on the shelf that my LBS doesn't (clothing, mostly).

This is Roswell, Georgia (suburb of Atlanta) - not Roswell, NM.

It means I will not be buying from Performance any more. I would now need to pay state sales tax when buying online.

I'd stick to the LBS'. I try to avoid ever shopping at the retail stores of Performance, SuperGo or Nashbar. In my experience, those shops have no culture, and are usually run by posers who are either non-cyclists, or are stuck-up know-nothing kids who think they are gods gift to cycling. I will shop at their online stores occasionally, just because of the good deals, but thats because I don't actually have to deal with the store personel. Just MHO do as you please...

I drove out there today to check it out. I would say it's not worth the drive up from Decatur. Granted they just opened up, but I wasn't impressed. In my opinion the bike selection was non-descript, and the majority of components and accessories (including clothing) were Performance house brands--not knocking the quality of the stuff, just lack of selection. Staff was friendly but it seemed to me they could just as easily work at an appliance store as a bike shop. I guess I was disapointed because I expected to find a brick and mortar version of their website. I'll probably stick with my LBS.

    tooth,
give them a season or so. Soon they'll have name brand clearance items. But going to your LBS is better anyways.

I went to the Performance store in Roswell last Saturday. BIG disappointment!!! I ended up buying some Performance gloves (just to compare with my other gloves) and a pair of LG gloves (bright yellow for commuting).

They had plenty to look at a good selections (especially their own brand ) but it took 3 people to complete my sales transaction (paying with a check).
The first guy didn't get all the information from my DL. The second guy didn't enter everything in the computer/cash register correctly.
Finally the third guy did it correctly. Took ~15 minutes to check out.

FYI: The second store on the I-85 access road (south side-next to Guitar Center) between N. Druid Hills Rd and Clairmont Rd is now open.

Congrats. The Performance in Chicago is such a great place to go. I support my LBS but damn! They have great stuff there.
