Cheep-o Handlebar Bag

I have a generic handle bar bag, th kind that velcros in place. I originally wanted to mount it to my Tricross but my cross-brake levers get in the way. Ditto the turkey legs on my Raleigh Marathon. I finally mounted it on my Min-Ute not because I needed it but just because I could. Well, the velcro part went fine. However, there are two nylon bungie cords hanging down from the back lower corners of the bag. They have little metal rings on them. I looped the rings over the hub-bolts on the front wheel but they just pop right off. I know this is a dumb question but, what am I supposed to DO with these things?

In the hardware store or big-box store, find two s-hooks that are thin enough to fit between your axle nuts and cone lock nuts. One half of the s-hook will be secured by the axle nut and the other, exposed end can be pried open slightly to provide a hook for your bungee.

I used a handlebar adapter for 1 water bottle cage, added long bolts,

and spacers and made stiffeners to go in the bag.. instead of the water bottle cage..

You can add a proper Rixen and Kaul barbag mount, they just bolt or rivet on.
Correx corrugated plastic is ideal stiffening materiel for bags.

Bungee cords that hang from the bottom of handlebar bags are intended to go to the front axle or fender eye area on the fork. They tension the bag down and reduce bounce, swinging and flop on bumpy roads. Whether you want or need the feature is up to you, and you're free to either cut them off, or somehow loop them back and forth under the bag to take up the slack, and tie them off there.
