Philanthropy is the heart of business, but entitlement is the heart of insolvency...especially for small businesses.

I got free tuneups and adjustments for life as well as 10% off accessories purchased at the same time. This was for a Giant Escape 3 I paid $344 for after tax.

That sounds generous.
No doubt you will be buying Chains, Cassettes, Chainrngs, Bearings, tires, brake pads, ... all at a significant markup. Perhaps even non covered items such as wheel truing.

I have no doubt there are some people that make regular use of the tuneups, and others that don't.

Stick another "0" on the end of the price tag and you'll be more likely to get a freebie or two, but don't expect much, if anything. $800.00 isn't much as far as bicycles go and they stay in business by selling things, not giving them away.

I bought an $800 bike and received credit for one free tuneup and a t shirt. I wouldn't expect much more.

Many shops will offer a discount on accessory purchases made that day - usually 10-15%. They'll often include basic tune-ups for a specified period of time; with my latest bike they gave 2 years of basic tune-ups. My LBS also includes a bike fit if you spend over a certain amount (I think it's over $2,000). They usually charge $150 for the fitting.

They also threw in the obligatory LBS-branded water bottle (which, sadly, I ran over on my first ride) and a crappy bottle cage which went right in the trash.

We did I think a year of tuneups and 15% off for 30 days on accessories. Occasionally we would discount clothing or something depending on the customer and if they purchased multiple bikes. As far as tuneups go though, unless the bike was improperly assembled in the first place or the rider trashed it, the only adjusting that is ever really needed is just a few turns on a barrel adjuster and some lube.

Not a freebie but close.

Great cable lock for commuters or bike tourers. Lightweight and comes with two keys.

https://dealsonly.com/sporting-goods...ike-lock-micro only $4.29

Kind of like the free wi-fi and breakfast you get at a motel?
