Minimising storage space.
My garage is secure and climate controlled. However, the space is limited for bicycle storage. I am currently hanging the the bikes (4) on vinyl coated hooks by their front wheels. Is there a down side to this space saving method? A forum search reveals nothing on this subject.

For short term it is just a bother to hang the bikes all the time.
For long term, it may be one of the best ways to treat the bike. It gets the weight off of the tires.
Birds?

Minimising storage space.
Hooks are fine. I use them in my basement for the same reason - limited space. I have them spaced, I think, eight inches apart and I alternate hanging by front and rear tires. No issues at all from doing that.

Thanks guys. I have them hung by the front wheels which keeps the handlebars above head height for folks under 6'2". I spaced the hooks on 24" centers to allow easy access and avoid bar interference. Now if I can induce Momma to get them down when we want to ride.... Nah, that won't work.

alternate the hook height, and they can be closer together. NB Building Code for wall studs are 16 " apart ..
so you need to span between the studs in order to have something to screw into, other than 16 or 32" apart.
LBS uses hooks in the overhead , and hangs them by the Rear wheel because it stays pointed straight as you lift it Higher.
Oh BTW rubbermaid track bar system lets you hang the bike wider spaced then slide it sideways
To then move them in closer together .

The hooks that I installed are in a ceiling joist and spacing can vary. Thanks for the Rubbermaid link.

With the typical hook in the wall setup as shown in the pics above, the force of the hooked tire against the wall is much higher than if it was just sitting on the floor.
