Mariposa bikes (toronto/mike barry) anyone has one?
I posted here just last wk (i'm the guy with the surly cross check and was going to get a rivendell atlantis at a good price...but the fit may not be spot on)...so
someone emailed me to strongly consider mike barry (mariposa/bicycle specialties in Toronto) as one of THE gurus in the entire bike industry for being
able to get a great custom bike...and at a fair price (esp since I'm a canuck and prefer to pay in canuck dollars, since any US prices cost 30% more with our lower dollar value).
Your feedback is appreciated.
Cheers

Also considering Bob Brown and Davidson Cycles, too, for a custom (considerably cheaper than a Rivendell Custom)

Hi Joe,
I'm also from Vancouver, BC. I got a Mariposa last May and have absolutely been thrilled with it. Mike and Tom at Bike Specialties did a great job of fitting the bike for me (I'm short, with short torso). I ride randonneur events (200+km) and the bike is so comfortable for these rides. In the last 11 months I've put over 9,000 km on it. The custom rack is a real beauty, especially with its attachment points to the fenders. A little patience is needed as it took about 7 months to get my bike. The price was compatable with Rivendell Atlantis/Rambouillet bikes and much less than a Rivendell custom. Plus it's a Canadian product. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
Cheers,
Melissa
