Help me spend some money - rain pants

This summer I sold my truck and made the move from part time bike commuter to full time commuter. Looking for a new pair of rain pants and happy to spend some money on quality kit.

I have a pair of light duty "just-in-case" rain pants, but I'm looking for something to cover those days where it's pouring rain when you leave the house. Commute is 19km and fairly hilly (typically takes me between 45 and 55 minutes depending on traffic and energy level).

Who has cycling rain pants they love?

Bikes: Many bikes in three states and two countries, mainly riding Moots Vamoots, Lynskey R265 disc and a Spot Denver Zephyr nowadays

Breathable pants are nice, so I've been eyeing the Showers Pass Event pants, but honestly I've been happy with what I have.

I use a rotation of waterproof REI rain pants for colder days and Mavic rain "shorts" over regular cycling shorts for warm days.

the taped seams rarely hold up long being sat on riding the bike , for long, so figure on replacing them every few years .

I've found wearing a cyclist's rain cape the pants are less important..

[bike has to have mudguards and the headlight cannot be on the handlebars]

The pants become important if you ride in city traffic with large puddles and large vehicles, though!

Retired, I dont live in a big city , I can throw my cape quickly over my head and rain falling from above is taken care of.

do have some rain pants thin ones from backpacking stores , had some mesh lined ones , hard to put on,

but the diamond gusset center, did hold up for months of cycle touring

have others 3 layer, fabric's lining and membrane delaminated from the shell fabric.
