Paducah KY Bike Thefts
Greetings fellow cyclists,
I am in Texas however my home is in Western Kentucky. A local West Ky news website ran a story concerning the thefts of three bikes in Paducah Ky. The following is a cut and paste from the article that describes the bikes fairly well. If you reside in or travel through this area please keep your eyes out for the stolen bikes of our brother and sister cyclists:
PADUCAH, KY - Paducah Paducah police are investigating three bicycle thefts that happened over the weekend.
Billy T. Croom of the 300 block of North 7th Street told police Sunday morning that someone cut the chain and took his $700 Trek bicycle from his porch. The bike is described as gray with white trim with a black full seat and a basket on the back. The theft occurred between 8:00 pm Saturday and 6:00 am Sunday.
Less than three hours later, James A. Davison of Athena, GA told police someone disassembled the bike rack on his 2003 Honda Pilot while it was parked in the 300 block of North 8th Street and took two bicycles.
One of the bikes is a dark green Surly disk trucker bicycle with upswept handle bars, a Brooks black leather seat with springs and front and rear racks, valued at $2,100. The other is an orange and white Cannondale Quick bicycle with a white saddle, a rear rack, a blue travel bag, a customized double-chain ring and a chargeable light on the back, valued at $600. The Canondale Quick bicycle has a flat bar handle bar and a “cat eye” computer, and stickers that say “Pedal Chick,” “Great Alley Game Passage,” “Bike Athens” and “Sunshine Cycle.”
Police said the second theft occurred between 10:00 pm Saturday and 8:50 am Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call the Paducah Police Department at 270-444-8550 or Crime Stoppers at 270-443-TELL. Information leading to an arrest or indictment may result in a reward of up to $1,000.
