Cheap Computer

Anybody use the Bell SpinFit computer? I was just wondering if they work ok for a cheapie. I have a couple of the older, 8 function, Bell computers and never have had a problem with them.

i'm also curious about cheap computers. i'm just getting into cycling and i'd like something very simple to keep track of distance and speed (no bells and whistles). i've googled for reviews with no real success. any suggestions?

I've used the Bell SpinFit. It was fine for the distance, speed, miles, and calories (I think). Lost it due to my own mistake in not firmly putting it back on the mount.

I used one of the wal-mart ones that sell for ~$10 and it works fine. No complaints.

I'm also using the Walmart model with no problems.

I picked up a couple Sigma Sport BC1200 computers from REI for under $20 and they do the job. I think I got them both on sale, so keep your eyes peeled if you live near one of their stores.

Personally i'd get the DB4LW (wireless + huge ass display multilines) for the exact same price as the wired Bell spinfit.

However i've had 2 bell spinfits and i've never had a problem with them (except for the stupid way they made the battery cover). Minor Niggly.

Just note to you when installing the battery, you'll have to disassemble the rear cover. The battery cover isn't spring loaded and won't pop out.

I currently have the bc1200. Picked it up for 19.99 at REI last year. I think that was normal price. Supergo has it for 19 dollars now. It might be a tad bit more than the wal mart models but it could be worth a couple of dollars for a better looking and more ergonomic unit.

Also check out JensonUSA for some cheap computers. They have a bunch under $20 and a couple under $15. The Planet Bike Protege 5.0 is pretty nice for $15. My wife has a Cateye Velo2 on her bike. It's been pretty reliable. I've never had problems with Cateye computers. We got the Velo2 from the LBS for around $15 too. Performance is selling them for $14.99.
