Bikes and Drivethroughs

Has anyone else ever tried to ride their bike through the drive-through window. When I or people I know have tried it they get yelled at and told to leave. I'm pretty sure bikes are classified as vehicles in PA and if you allow motorcycles through why not bikes, money is money right?

I usually go inside to wash my hands anyway, so I wouldn't use the drive through if I was on my bike.
I did think about trying it once, but it's not too hard to set the bike against the window where you can see it from inside (but then you cant go into the bathroom...), and just order inside.

I have never been wasted enough to try on a bike. I have walked through Taco Bell before and they actually served me. Then again my University was in a rather interesting town.

yeah but most places close the inside after 11 pm.,which means people without cars don't get served .

I wish I could stay out until 11 o'clock. My mom's crazy about that stuff, I have to be in by 6:30 everynite during school to eat dinner and usually atleast in my neighborhood by 8 during the summer. She thinks I'm going to get hit by a car.

Did you mean something like this? While this is the Mountain Bike forums, I thought one photo of a bike at a drive through would be appropriate. Sorry its a skinny tire model.

PS - Us old gezzers like me often to ride up to the pharmacy and get our E.D. meds.

This is just laughable. Yeah it's cool to go to a drive-through on your bike but you throw it back in your own face when you acquiesce and go home and drive to get food.

Way to go.

I used to go to the drive through at Bank One to deposit my paycheck in 1994. One day the teller told me I had to come inside to do the transaction that I had been doing for several weeks via the drive through on my bike. Of course, I asked why. They told me that it was the bank's policy that they couldn't serve non-motorized vehicles through the drive through.

I angrily went inside and asked them to show me in writing where it stated that. Of course, they couldn't reproduce any hardcopy documentation so I closed my account. I put on quite a scene too as I recall. What a bunch of tards. All they had to do was show me where it said that in writing and I would have been fine with that. Thoughts of urinating all over the drive through coin cylinder came to mind.

I had actually thought about going back trough the drive through on a motorized wheel chair to see if they would serve me. However, I have no idea where I could borrow a motorized wheel chair. If it were to happen today I would have used a buddy's pocket bike.

I've done it several times. Once I was told to leave and that they wouldn't serve me, but the rest of the times they've thought it was hilarious and had no problem serving me.

It is especially handy to go through the drive through on my bicycle on brevets when the restaurant part of the establishment is closed. The people running the drive throughs at that hour are usually more curious what I'm doing out there on a bicycle at 1 am and less interested in turning me away. We've had some nice chats.

I regularly ride through at a Taco Bell near my house. It's usually around 3am, on my ride home from work. They don't mind at all, now and then - especially if it's cold or wet, they don't even give me free food.
Did ride through at a McDonalds once (back when i ate that sh*t) and they were not cooperative at all.

IF they require you to drive something motorized, drive your (or a friend's) truck with lots of ham radio/CB antennas on it, you know the TALL kind, that go WHAP! WHAP! WHAPPITY-WHAPPP!!! going through. Then they'll be happpy.

Guy here got even- rode up to a drive-in bank, pulled a gun, handed the teller a paper sack and said "fill it up". Rode off with their money.

Sorry folk's but this is called.......discrimination......and
it's illegal. Sue if you need to. Bicycles are considered
in most states to be VEHICLES.

It is discrimination but it's not illegal. Cyclists are not a protected class therefore have no standing to sue for discrimination.

BTW, I tried it once at McDonald's and was just ignored.

Morbius..I like you spunkinesss...Particularily about urinating on the coin cylinder..Way to go.! .Wonder if they would let you ride your bike into the lobby..
Your ever about, like to ride with you and see if we could avoid getting arrested.
Only once Did I get my dander up that much...Stupid jerk off judge in Florida...I had a special project at work in Florida..I had been involved in preparing a testing regimen for a new well field...The time of its start up came at the time of stupid jury duty...
Had special appeal to judge..Just delay so I could be involved this testing start up...He said no excuses accepted in regards to anything about work..
I was furious..Just wanted it delayed...Kept my cool. Did not swear at the clerk...But, one week later I moved out of the county. Non-residents can't do jury duty if living elsewhere....
Changed my voters registration, car registration. Moved in a suit case in over at a friends house in the adjacent county..Just in case...Was not even estranged with my then wife at that time...That will teach em...'Moved back two months later, after the project was over...
ps..My boss was proud of my dedication..but, did not end up getting me any greater percentage COLA for the new work year, as I recall..
