I cheated and persuaded Joe to change mine to my name, to avoid the embarrasment of having to explain the origin of a username I've been using on various other sites for a few years.

My original username included my initials and Boomer. I got the nickname boomer cuz I used to windsurf and break a lot of booms (the things you hold onto). I would go through 3 or 4 a year! The name stuck when I got into a fight (defending myself) and I punched the guy once and BOOM he went down! My friends started calling me Boomer and it stuck!
I was using that all the time and thought it wasn't real original and didn't portray my admiration for cycling, so I had Joe change it to reflect my passion - a 2(bi) psy (cy) kl (cle) nut (no explanation!) a2psyklnut get it?

Mine is because my last name is Fly (really, it is!) and I'm married and have a daughter, that makes three of us. This is also my e-mail, it just makes things easier if all your names can be the same.

Well for those of a you that were born in the UK in the very late 50's to the mid 60's, you will remember what Brains from Thunderbirds looked like.
Well having carried the nickname through several schools, it started again when I started work, and now 25 years later (and several companies and countries later!) the nickname is still with me, to such a degree that from time to time clients expess suprize that I have a 'real' name. Even my unofficial business card simply says 'Brains'

my name comes from the group of girls i love to ride with in austin, tx: team poptart.
a bunch of us were on a mtb ride one day and stopped for a chat/break(it WAS a chick-ride) . this guy rides up, pulls off his camelbak and whips out a pack of Pop Tarts.
we all looked at each other and started laughing "if Powerbar has a women's team...why not Pop Tarts?...they taste better..."
so far Kellog's has not threatened to sue(and the "team" is ~150 members strong).

When I first started posting, mostly on political boards, I called myself "Plantation1." Nothing to do with agriculture but a S. Fla high school where I was an assistant football coach and we were ranked, for awhile, #1 in the state. After maturity set in I grew weary of the BS on those types of boards and in a fit of originality figured I'd use my given name. This began at Old Roads.com and as I discover more bicycle sites I try to keep using it.
Not real exciting but there it is.
P.S. If I ever ran afoul of any of you guys at Excite or Lycos under my old name please accept my apologies though I can honestly say that I seldom if ever "flamed." I could be pretty sarcastic though.

Old Dan is the name of my bike and comes from an old song by the Son's of the Pioneers (Roy Roger's old back up band) called "Cool Water". One great song...."Old Dan and I with throaths burned dry and souls that cry for water...." that I would sing to myself when crossing the Mojave desert. At Victorville, I would often linger at the Roy Roger's Museum and chat mostly with Roy, and sometimes with Dale. Roy was a great person and a fine gentleman. Both their passing has now made stopping at their place just a wee bit emptier, and so my riding out there has thinned out a bit.
Also, my nickname is le Voyageur or LV, since I work as a canoe guide, and re enact the French and Indian War as a Frecnh Canadian voyageur, and serves as the handle that I have made infamous over at the REI tree hugger site.

Explain your bikeforum username
While some are pretty self explanitory, like mine is my first initial and last name, I've wondered how some of you other Bike Forum posters have come up with your handle.
How did you come up with it or what does it mean?
Dave

Swift is the name of my Aegis bicycle. Aegis designed it for small riders and its truly awesome. Aegis is a small company in Maine that makes carbon fiber frames.

As well as having a full time job, I occasionally get extra work of the media kind. Voice overs for advertisements, radio announcing, writing scripts, writing media releases etc.
To keep everything above board and make sure the tax man is happy I put the proceeds into a business account.
My business name is Media Creations.

I ride in the city and sometimes getting through town feels like a military exercise. Sometimes the aggressor, sometimes using stealth and tactics to survive.

I went through a number of possible nicks. I like bunnies but I thought BUNNY would be too cutesy and Rabbit would have sexual connotations and I wanted something that sounded speedy- that eliminated Turtle, even though I like turtles. So I came up with Wabbit, it's not a terribly complicated or exotic story.

I like wolves, and I like to read, write and draw. Simple. I'm Inkwolf everywhere I go, from the Emperor's Hammer to Mugglenet....I sometimes vaguely consider having it legally made part of my real name...
