Going back there, I found the hill, but it just doesn't seem like much at all. Not that steep. Not that long. Did someone steal half of it?
That happened to me too.

My family used to cycle the Bow Valley Parkway between Banff and Johnson's Canyon when I was young ... sometimes even all the way to Lake Louise. I remember there being a collection of massive hills just as you get off the TransCanada near the beginning of the Bow Valley Parkway.

I returned there in 2005 to ride it again ... cycled all the way to Lake Louise ... and wondered where they had put this collection of massive hills!! There were a few small bumps as you get off the TransCanada highway near the beginning of the Bow Valley Parkway, but that was it.

Sometimes I feel like I am going very fast on a flat section, but, on the way back in the other direction, it's uphill.

I found that by doing the worst hill I could ride to in one day from home made all the other hills around here seem like nothing.

If I see a hill, it's a hill.

The following is my typical roads. I don't have a single section of flat riding.

The house you see in the distance is 0.7 miles. What you don't see is the second downhill and resulting uphill to that house. That's 94 feet of climbing that 0.7 miles according to RidewithGPS. The road makes a 90 at that house and continues on in the same fashion of the photo. This is why I average a measly 10 mph when I ride on the road. I ride 10-15 miles of the same as depicted in this photo. I have to go to the river trail to see anything flat.
