Why are there no big bicycle rallies?

Motorcyclists have Sturgis, Americade, etc.

Why aren't there any big national or regional rallies for bicyclists?

Or maybe there are and I just haven't heard of them?

Interbike, Philly Bike Expo, Frostbike, EuroBike, NAHBS... Not quite the same but a good setting. You do also have things like Critical Mass or other mass rides, plus a ton of races both professional and more amateur ones.

Unless you live in Sturgis, it takes a long time to ride your bicycle to Sturgis. Then again, people trailer their motorcycles to Sturgis, so whoknows

Great Western Bicycle Rally in Paso Robles, CA

Haven't made it yet, but hope to next year. Some great riding, restaurants, and wonderful wineries around Paso Robles and SLO.

Depends. Don't think the last two years sold out that quickly. 2012 sold out in less than 1 hr. The GF and I got in.

"cat people" don't have rallies that i am aware of. same problem, the activity is too common place. although i suppose the difficulty of herding 10-20 cats into one's SUV could be a major factor in their lack of numbers. IDK.

ya, like hauling your 35' yacht from Newport R.I to Miami only to let it sit on the launching ramp for the entirety of the rally. hard to fathom (hehe)...

TOSRV haven't updated the website yet. There are hundreds of smaller events, some are very local, some are bicycle specific like the Three Speed Tour, others focus on a specific marque or country of origin.

I went back in 92,93,94 when I had a Harley, and it was already becoming a bunch of old farts wanting to look like renegade-outlaws for a week. Probably gotten even worse since the advent of that ridiculous whitetrash soap opera starring Peg Bundy and the Monkey Sidekick from Quest for Fire.

That's an " artist" event with bikes and human powered type stuff. In the middle of a desert. So I'm told.
