I had a close up look at that bike at the Toronto Bicycle show a few weeks back. It was the one that drew the crowds, everyone ignored all the carbon fiber marvels Bianchi had on display.

It depends on the age.

Way back when, all Bianchi bikes were made in Italy.

In the 1980s, lots of global companies shifted production to Asia for cheaper labor, and so did Bianchi. For a while, Bianchi continued to build their higher-end 'Reparto Corse' stuff in Italy and outsourced less-expensive frames to manufacturers in Japan or Taiwan. Those Asian bikes, even though they weren't Bianchi's highest-end models, were very well-made, though. In fact, Sheldon Brown's page says, "these were particularly nice bikes, with better workmanship than the Italian models.".

Over time, more and more production got moved to Asia and now even the high-end carbon frames are made in Taiwan. But those frames and components can get shipped to Italy where they're painted and assembled, which may qualify the bike for a "Made in Italy" decal.

Interesting that a bike costing just under $3,500.00 would have Dia-Compe brake levers and shifters instead of Campagnolo ones. I guess it's because Campy doesn't make either any more?

Montreal tubular rims? I wonder if those are the same as the ones I had on my mid-1980s MIELE EQUIPE PRO?

Cheers
