What's the story with demo bikes? LBS bought? Vendor provided? Warranty?

I was at my LBS just before Christmas and they had just gotten in a demo Cannondale Slate Ultegra the day before. It had a retail price tag on it. A few weeks later, I paid $50 (that will be credited if I buy a bike) and took it home for a weekend. I am now ready to buy but there are none around in my size and now a waiting list into July for delivery. The demo is still there and was offered up yesterday while I was on the phone with them. I asked if that came with the full factory warranty and they said yes. I don't mind buying a demo but have seen conflicting information about warranties on demo bikes and have even seen the exact model demo unit on sale at another shop that specifically said that since it was a demo, that it will not include the as new warranty.

Are demo bikes typically sold to bike shops or given to them by the manufacturer? In the unlikely event that I would have to have the frame replaced, or in this case, the very expensive front suspension, might I run into trouble later? Going in tonight and hoping for at least a %10 discount and a warranty. If not, I will wait until May for a 105 version and save some $$$$.

Any experiences?

IDK you situation , I'd ask the shop owner in question not this forum .. I expect the shop pays for them.

now Cannondale is also a trans pacific Import. so you are waiting on the container ship transit
and Rail & trucking that marine box across the continent.

My LBS has rental cruisers *. they sell them off as winter approaches and buys new ones in the spring.

If you are the 1st Buyer , even a shopworn bike is New For warrantee purposes , Id guess, but ask the dealer , yours, to Know.

* a couple Hotels have Guest Bikes too, they keep them year after year.
