Well I too am in the south Louisiana to be exact and I guess we get pretty much the same heat, so how hot is it gonna get in Michigan?and nice pic anyway,,,

It was 88 yesterday according to my car. 85 for this weekend and then it will be cooler into next week in the upper 70's. This is only the first week of June mind you, and we are off to a slow start. There were flurries here two weekends ago and I was out riding in them with temps hovering right above freezing.

You think the heat is miserable? Come ride with us and experience numb toes and hands, and constant snot running out of your nose and freezing to your face. Come ride with us when it is so cold that no matter how you layer your gear, you are still freezing. Come ride with us in the snow, and on the slushy unplowed roads. .

I live in west central Florida. In the warmer months (aka HOT, HUMID months) we get out around 6-7AM to ride.

I live in a somewhat warm climate, so rain or snow are not an issue for me in winter, but I can't wait for summer because DST means I can do BOTH of my commutes with sunlight (: I still have a long way to go, as I am on the Southern Hemisphere and Summer starts in December for us lol.

When i used to commute in Florida, the real hardship was cars in traffic---not just the amazingly idiocv of the drivers, but the tremendous amount of heat each vehicle throws. Any rides on busy roads or during rush hour, and especially at intersections, where cars sit and bake the pavement for a while, then the sun bakes the pavement, then the cars again ... Drivers sit scowling in their air conditioned cabins on leather sofas listening to stereos better than I have at home, hating me for riding, while I sit next the their cars in 135-degree heat, with heat baking off the pavement, radiating from the cars, with the sun beating down, sweat gushing off my head and body .... but I am smiling and they are not. Go figure.

Love riding in the heat of summer in the deep south.
Winter I tolerate riding, and do it consistently, but summer through fall is the ticket for me

Let me throw this up there for those of you in SoCal and Nevada who are foreign to winter. That was a foot of snow on my commute home one night that was deep enough to hold the fat bike up on its own….

Often when I see a post from Michigan, I like to say hi, as a native myself, and where I got my start in a cycling lifestyle.
We visit Michigan about two or three times a year to see family in Macomb and Oakland Counties, and I always bring or borrow a bike.
...Back in the 60’s in the Motor City, I had an “English Racer,’ and longed to tour at about age 14, but then joined the car culture. In Ann Arbor MI in the 70’s I really realized the utility of bicycles for commuting, and began touring on a five-speed Schwinn Suburban, but soon bought a Mercier as did my girlfriend, later my wife. We toured in Michigan and Ontario.
In 1977 we moved to Boston on our bikes, as a bicycling honeymoon from Los Angeles to Washington, DC and then took the train up to Boston...

Personally the only weather I don’t like to ride in is rain, and no rain would be a desert. That said, I really like riding in all seasons, even winter. So my near perfect weather would present the best of all seasons, without the extremes, and I already live here. Nice, albeit short Spring with beautiful blossoms and that first few weeks of relief from Winter; glorious summer; cool crispy Autumn with colorful foliage; and even a bracing, and challenging Winter, but not one impossible to ride in.
...twenty-five years of riding in Massachusetts showed me how wonderful winter can be. In fact, winter was so wonderful I decided to live the rest of my life in climes where i could comfortably ride year-round, without risking losing digits to frostbite, or dying of exposure if I got a flat.

I'll take the winter over the summer anytime here in Tennessee. You can always add enough clothing in the winter to be comfortable, but can't shed enough in the heat of the summer.
Yep, early morning and late evening riding is just about here.
