My favorite thus far was a group of guys with Xs on their hands at the club, who thought I was honing in on their catch (when in reality I just wanted their prime standing spot), whose comments to me about the game made absolutely no sense until I saw the news report on what the game actually was the next day.
Arlington National Cemetery also had to put out a notice that playing the game on their grounds was inappropriate.

Maybe we need a Sonic the Hedgehog game for them. They could collect coins from bike lanes and MUP's...
Wait, maybe I need a Sonic the Hedgehog game, where are the software engineers :-)

I dug up an old stem-mount, plugged the phone into an external battery pack, and hit just over 70 Pokestops in right about 2 hours this morning. The speed of a bike is a little too fast to incubate eggs, but it's undoubtedly the most efficient way to refill your Item supply. Went from 18 Pokeballs to 144. If your town has a historic district (like mine does) the Pokestops practically overlap each other.
No worries of increased danger having the app running on a bike, either. Anything over 12mph and you fly by Pokestops and Pokemon before you even notice them. Even this weekday morning, saw lots and lots of people walking, playing the game. As I and others have said previously, whatever gets 'em outside. I'm a person that has a real problem doing "recovery" rides-- keeping the speed and HR down. That was not a problem this morning. I have more energy now after riding 30 miles.

I saw a bunch of Pokemon Go hunters this morning on the MUP. And, I gotta say, I'm okay with this. Big kids reliving their childhood. Lord knows they need a little escapism after so many horrific events this year. I even chatted with one fellow. He showed me how it was done, how he found 'em along the trail. Even sheepishly admitted his phone screen got cracked in a collision with another cyclist -- although it wasn't related to the Pokemon Go thing, it happened earlier.
None of 'em was in my way, and I'm a Slowpoke on a bike anyway. I got a kick out of watching 'em.

I never understood the cartoon series in the first place. Although I could tell the show would be a hit with kids, since the star pet's name rhymed with "peek-a-boo." Making a game out of "peek-a-boo?" Sure, why not.

I'm 26 and married. My wife and I both rode and played PoGo on the bike trail all day Sunday. I rode 67 miles Saturday. Sorry I'm not a neckbeard basement dweller that fits your stereotype.

Just what the world needs, more iPhone zombies wandering about in their virtual world, oblivious to reality and the actual people around them.

I'll have to admit to be a little surprised by Pokémon Go.
I normally keep pretty current with pop culture as well as normal events. But I sure didn't see this coming. I've never been a gamer. When in the Army we played cards. When I got out of the Army... there was Pac Man games in the bars. I just never found the attraction.
So on todays ride on the MUP... I was astonished at the number of people, kids, and families... out capturing Pokémon's.
I am pretty easy to get along with. I understand the MUP is part of the park system. I don't mind sharing. And if push comes to shove... I can (and DO) ride my bike in the street. And leaving the paths to the Pokémon hunters may be the solution... as they were everywhere today.

My kids have been out on foot and on bikes, looking for Pokémon. Good for them. One of their huskier friends said that he lost a few pounds as a result.
@Yendor72, I get the Nerds reference. You're probably in your 40s like me. The prospect of a spandex-clad MAMIL poking fun at Pokémon gamers is slightly funny, you have to admit. These guys are probably also chuckling at us when we ride past.

There are plenty of outdoor activities which don't require electronic devices. People have been playing outside long before smartphones and apps were invented...It's a safety hazard to be riding a bike or walking while having your face glued to a smartphone.

A local park where I start many of my rides was covered up with oblivious idiots both walking and bicycling staring at their phones a few days ago. One 12-13 year old boy on a bicycle swerved right in front of me as I was driving through the parking lot. It's just another thing to distract people, and by people I mean nerds, from the real world. Obliviousness is bliss.

Well, in hilarious news, there was an employee at a local Victoria's Secret on the radio show this morning. Seems like their store is overrun with Pokemon who like hiding around their panty bar (her words, no idea what that actually means), and they're having quite the problem with the young guys that come in looking for them having their phones out and cameras pointed at the ladies actually shopping

This thread is hilarious. I don't get the anger directed at this game. There were oblivious people on the sidewalks and paths before Pokemon Go. I think it's pretty cool to see folks getting more time outdoors to play this game. And they're often not just sitting with their noses glued to their phones. They're in groups, or socializing with others. There's a little bit of a buzz in the air during peak activity.

Yes, it's great they're off the sofa. I'm a live and let live person. There's plenty of room, but only if we cooperate. Its not just cyclists that are peeved - I've seen them wander in front of couples pushing strollers, dog walkers, disc golfers, and cars in the parking lots.
