I just got some new tires
This morning I brought in my bike to my LBs and I got two new tires ( 26 x1.62) I used to have 26 x 1.95 the new tires are a lot thinner, I also picked up a rack for the back and I will add panniers later on.
What a difference these new tires are compared to the old ones, the old ones were those gummy rubber ones and although I had no problem riding, they were a bit slow, but I can already notice more speed with the new tires, they are pumped up to the tits. I paid about 25.00 for the rear rack. the tires were about 17.00 a piece and the tubes were about another 5 or so, so I paid a total of 62.66 for the tires and tubes and a truing. I had paid for the rack earlier this morning. |
I went from 2.1" knobbies to 1.5" slicks. Talk about a world of difference. I was simply amazed :D

I used knobbies on the road for a long time, this winter i picked up 1.4 slicks and its a world of a difference. Of course they are lighter, like 250 or 300 grams lighter. And they roll so nicely :). I tried going with knobbies again a little while ago and on a turn i a skid out and crashed.

I went from 1.95" knobbies to 1.5" slicks on my commuter bike. Then I bought a roadie with 23c Michelin Pro2 Races. Skinnier than Paris Hilton and a lot better looking.
