Lock Shopping
Greetings all:
Now that my new Cannondale CAADX Ultegra has been on its shake out cruise and minor adjustments made, it's time to think about security.
For home, when not locked in the basement, I'm thinking an anchor bolt and HEAVY chain arrangement would do for when the bike is being used. No overnight outdoor storage ....yeah I know we all say that...
For mobile I am looking at several options. I've read about locks until I swear I could pick them or hack them myself. I have an old Krypto that could ride on the frame or seat tube, but it's about as elegant as dark garter socks and sandals. I've been carrying it in my pack. What's the general opinion on the Abus folding locks? They look to be more versatile, weigh about the same as a good U-lock and looks to be eminently bike portable.
Now my real quandary...locking while transporting. I've been locking my Trek Hybrid to carrier using a U-lock. I purchased a hitch-mounted 4 bike carrier for my Jeep. There are lock points that look to be usable only by cables....a far cry from secure. [Fun story, I had two Specialized Allez Epics stolen off a roof rack at a criterium race in Ann Arbor in 1990. The guy who stole my bikes and a boatload of other gear at the A2 Festival of Cycling placed an ad in the Detroit version of Pennysaver. I arrived with two cops to "purchase" the bikes....it was funny at the time]. What do most people do these days for transport security?
Many thanks.

I own one of Abus chain integrated lock combinations.. I carry on the Bike.
Security chain is unable to be cut with typical bolt cutters.
part of it is the square steel bar used to form the links, then it is tempered to increase the hardness.
Have you considered buying a trailer that you can lock the doors of?
