I have a predominantly red carbon fiber bike with white trim and black lettering. I use whatever components and accessories my LBS recommends. Shortly after buying it in 2013, I bought a nice pair of black Pearl Izumi shorts with a red wedge on the front of the thighs that matches the bike. Those shorts are now getting threadbare since I can’t find any shorts with red trim at any bike shop I visit.
I’m hoping that this year’s styles might include the shorts I want, or otherwise I’ll have to go all black.

I don't match brands and don't see the point, really. I am more interested in price and quality, for the most part. But if its something that I just want and will work best for me (like a saddle), that will also trump price and everything else
I haven't found a brand that has everything I want, at a price I can deal with, and that will work best for me.
Matching colors and such is as far as I'd probably go.
I have a vintage Schwinn that has Selle Italia, Bontrager, Bell, Deda, Shimano, Tektro, Dia-compe, SR, Sugino, and Weinmann on it. But 5 of those brands are stock, and everything still matches otherwise (aside from the temporary stem).
Though I can see matching the components to each other. Or at the very least, for me, the color/finish.

Ever since I turned pro, I wear whatever the sponsors give me to wear. Heck, I can't even go out for a beer without having my team's cycling cap on. I only drink their bottled water, and regularly pee into cups and have blood drawn by doping control officers. But whatever, it's worth it because I get paid to do this...

I love mismatching. The ultimate mismatch on my Fuji bike is a saddle that says Diamondback on it.
When I bought the Fuji, I didn't like the saddle that came with it, but really liked the saddle that was on the Diamondback hybrid I had been riding for a few years. Swapped saddles and have been a happy camper ever since.

I'm a bit OCD too and like to color coordinate, for example my handlebar bar tape (cyan) matches my helmet (cyan/white) which in turn matches my pedals (white). Anything goes with makers, if it's available in the color I want, I won't look much into the brand.
As far as clothing it's already hard for me to find stuff in my size so I take whatever I can find lol.

My road bike is a custom ti from a "boutique" builder. As such, all accessories are necessarily different brands.

RE: mismatched, sometimes I wear a Trek Jersey, Craft Base layer, Specialized Shorts, Giant/Shimano socks, Giro Gloves, Cannondale helmet, and Louis Garneau shoes. My seat bag is made by Bikase.
But, I did get Brooks leather bar tape to match my Brooks B17 saddle.

just the opposite. I dislike the "everything the same" school of anything. the only thing I have in a set is my SK screwdrivers. my brake cable coverings are even different - on purpose.

Sorta.
Last car I bought, I wanted a Toyota, so that all of my fleet would work the same--controls in the same spot, same tools, etc. But that's out of laziness on my part, and I don't care what others think of what they see. [And ironically, the thing that bugged in my last car--the fact that the wipers worked opposite in my VW as opposed to my Toyota's--turns out, my new-ish Camry has the wipers working... opposite of my other Toyotas. Can't win.]
My bike? Nope. Whatever works.

I know a number of women who seem to take pains to make sure their neon socks don't match. I figure it's a new look, kinda like a streak of blue or red or pink hair.

I do cringe a bit when I strap on my Shimano shoes to ride my Campy equiped bike... but dammit! Those shoes fit perfectly, and THAT is what is important.

Hey everyone - just wondering if any of you guys are anal like I am as far as things being uniform? For example, I have the Giant Escape 1 so as far as any accessories, do you tend to stick with Giant accessories or will you branch out as far as bottle cages, seat bags, etc.. I guess as long as the color matches, is that more important or do you tend to have the same brand all the way around? Could be my OCD.. just curious LOL!

I like my wheels and tires to match front-to-rear, but that's about it.
I prefer silver parts on the road bikes, and black on the MTB's, but if the right size or spec isn't in the color I want, so be it.
The only time i go brand-specific is with my mobile / wearable electronics; I stick with Garmin and iOS platforms, since i mix and match pieces, they seem to play nicely together.
