Can hanging a bike from a single hook on the front tire damage the bike/wheel over time?

If a bike can be damaged by hanging from its own weight....you probably don't want to put 60-100KG of human mass on top of it.

No problem at all, though I've heard concerns about bikes with hydraulic brakes and hanging them.

My daily commuting bike has been stored hung by the front wheel for decades. I have noticed that my average speed has dropped over the last 20 years, but likely not connected

I hang three bikes in a corner of the garage.

Unless you scratch the rim, structurally the wheel won't even notice that it's carrying the bike.

I would think it a possibility to get some fretting corrosion where the hook and rim touch.

But seriously, hooks tend to be coated so there shouldn't be any potential for hook to rim corrosion.

just beware of hydraulics and being upside down but a one wheel hang is just fine. Have at it!

I think bikes with carbon rims aren’t suppose to be hung from a hook. At least that’s what the LBS told us when we bought my wife’s tri-bike. I installed a Steady Rack which is a dream to use.

If a Zipp wheel can handle my fat a$$ on it hitting an occasional pot hole, it can easily handle the weight of a 14# bike.

This is assuming you are going to park the bikes with the rear wheel on the wall like the bike was ready to ride straight up the wall.

Are you implying that the extra 7# (1/2 the total 14# weight) is the difference between no damage and damage?
Since I have 4 bikes hanging, from single hooks, behind the double hooks, my carbon road bike is hung by the rear wheel only during the winter when my carbon CX bike is currently being used and hung in front on the 2 hooks.
The reason for 2 hooks is so I better ground clearance.
The LBS I got my bike from hangs all sorts of expensive bike with carbon wheels from the rear only. it saves a lot of floor space.

I would think the warning about hanging carbon wheels is that some lame sort of person could delaminate the rim by slamming it to a metal hook and then hanging from the bike like a monkey.
Carbon fiber is a solution full of problems. But I do not think this would be one of them.
Is it possible to find a more environmentally caustic bicycle material than carbon fiber? Probably but I should be scared to ask.
