Music Poll

We've all heard about the incredible danger and illigality of headphones whilst riding. How many of you listen to tunes during commuting, cruising, or working? Any particular bands?

I used to...i stopped when i had an accident, though the music was unrelated to the accident. Hearing is key in traffic.

I listen to music often when I ride, but I never ever ever listen to Danzig. I've got a theory that, if you die while listening to Danzig, you go straight to hell. If Mother Theresa was on her death bed and someone started humming "Twist of Cain," she'd be polishing Lucifer's pitchfork as we speak.

I think the same thing applies to Slayer and the Bee Gees as well.

I don't go much of anywhere or do much of anything without my music.

I ride with earbud headphones every single time I go out. I also live in
a craptastic relatively smallish area and don't spend most of my time
weaving in and out of traffic, maybe that would change things.

Hahaha! Good theory. It just might be true. Just think how long that list really could be if you wanted to get technical.

On a side note, I don't actually listen to headphones while i'm riding. I live in Chicago for christsakes, have you seen how people drive here?

if there's one thing i love, it's being stuck on the bridge behind someone riding all bowlegged and swervy rocking out to headphones who can't hear you yelling for them to get the eff out of the way. that said, if i were that type, i'd get my swerve on to 'electric' by the cult.

Not being able to hear traffic completely sketches me out. I've tried it and I hate it.

I would never do that but I always have a song playing in my head... often it's just the chorus over and over again.

I crank the volume all the way up, and leave the headphones around my neck. You can only really hear it at stops and when the traffic is light. Its fun on random though. Whats it gonna be? Fugazi? Harry Nilsson? DFA1979? Caetano Veloso?

I almost always listen to music while I ride. I find the iPod earbuds let in a pretty decent amount of extraneous noise, so I don't get too freaked out.. as far as what I listen to, that runs the gamut from jazz to hip-hop to indie to klezmer. But I think I bounce most stylishly with the Outkast bumpin.

Did that make sense?

Funny you mention that. I always thought I was the only one that "looped" songs in my mind's ear. Just the other day I was "playing" the chorus of Clutch's "Mob Goes Wild" while digging DEEP to stay with the group on a local climb. That only after having to force myself to put some lame assed disco song out of my head.

Pearl Jam, Snoop Dogg, and AC/DC, over and over.

i'll wear them if riding the bike path, but not on the street. I don't think thats the most intelligent idea because cars hurt when they hit you.
