If you hit your head--of course hopefully not!

Concussion is nothing to ignore: 21 years ago was hit by a car and hit my head--checked at hospital with a concussion.
No broken bones "only" a cracked helmet and bicycle!
A month latter my vision at night was not so bright anymore! (did not think much about it)
1 year latter diagnosed with Hypothyroidism! (hormone replacement with daily pill)
2 years latter was diagnosed with Hypopituitarism! (hormone replacement with weekly injection)
Not much latter was diagnosed with AMD--Macular Degeneration.
The shock was violent enough to compress the back of my eyes and the little pituitary gland!
Today my eye sight is very bad--don't ride much and cannot drive at night!
3 month ago was still riding 120 miles a week at nearly 70 years old!

So if you end up with a concussion don't ignore it--even many many years latter.

Ride safely and enjoy!

Helmets don't seem to Stop the Brain from moving during a hard hit.

16 MPH crash for me. Bruised Both sides of Brain.

10 weeks Later Brain Surgery to stop the bleeding.

But might prevent the skull from being cracked open though...

OP, sorry about your condition, it really sucks

And don't forget the dangers involved for seniors with even minor head injuries. Even a simple head bump should be checked as it can cause fatal brain bleeding in older people.

I ended up with mild concussion after a crash. The helmet, however, took the main force of the crash and cracked. So glad that wasn't my head!!
