Got it, you are an ugly guy with $220 and read Bicycling Magazine; lucky you.

It's a consumerism society. It's not new. Play or don't play, it's all up to you.

Laughing my Assos off. You would have if you were not so easily manipulated by the Madison Ave. devils. Your shorts are no more comfortable functional than a $10 pair from Alibaba. You just THINK they are because they were expensive.

Wasn't it time to re-re-re-post the "Disc Brake" or the "Why Speed" instead of the "Roadie Kit" thread?

I'm just glad I don't ride a recumbent. Those things are too expensive.

$12,000 for a bike. Not including all the add-ons you have to buy.

I just paid 9 bucks each for a pair of bright yellow tee shirts and 50 bucks for a new Bern helmet. I was able to do that because I saved money by NOT buying Bicycling magazine!

Here's another way to save some money: stop reading Bicycling magazine. Why do you read it if it causes you so much discomfort?

Like most magazines, their mission is to make you feel like you need to spend money...hopefully on products advertised in their magazine. They do this by telling you how great those products are.

For me, $250.00 for bibs is way out of my price range but if I was making $300k/year I might feel differently.

There are all kinds of cyclists with wide ranging incomes and fortunately there is a wide range of products from low budget to ultra high end. Buy what you value and can afford and don't worry about what other people choose.

There should be a rule against posting the same thread over and over. At least a decent interval between threads.

Does Bicycle magazine also cater to those recumbent pseudobikes?

I think OP mentioned in other thread(s) that he gets it free...or he's a masochist...or fodder for troll threads.

Not so much.

I subscribe to Bicycling Magazine now and then but I've got an excuse - I've got grandchildren in grade school. I'm feeling another fund raiser coming on.

Ride naked. Save money.
No worry about those annoying tan lines.
On a recumbent, fig leaf recommended.

Exactly. Bicycling magazine has little similarity to real life.

I don't believe anything that I read in Buycycling Magazine. Or rather, the whole publication is a thinly-disguised cover-to-cover ad for high-end cycling stuff, and I treat it as such.

Nailed. It.

It's also become apparent to me that high-end cycling clothes are like anything else in the fashion world: trends, colors, and patterns vary with the seasons, and buying old/off-season styles is a good way to save money. Nearly all of my outdoor gear has been acquired this way - it doesn't bother me so much to be seen in maroon, even though the "in" color this year is true red.

On a more serious note. Is this cap compatible with my Shimano groupset?

This is BF. Step 1 is to buy the cap. Step 2 is to start a thread asking if you bought the wrong cap.

And when I first read this I thought :"Why would you take a shower wearing it?": "The outer fabric is shower-resistant and the inner is lined with a soft, comfortable anti-bacterial tape."

I bought a $300 clock radio a few years ago but can't remember if Bicycling directed me to do that.
