Wait until you read some literature from the early 20th century or before and hear about "gay flags" "gay bunting" and "gay old time" etc. Written by a bunch of bigots, no doubt! Censor, no wait, burn it!

Sheesh people!

Wait until you read through a dictionary and see that none of those terms you listed are derogatory.
Where in the dictionary is gay listed as being something bad eh?

adj 1: bright and pleasant; promoting a feeling of cheer; "a cheery hello"; "a gay sunny room"; "a sunny smile" [syn: cheery, sunny] 2: full of or showing high-spirited merriment; "when hearts were young and gay"; "a poet could not but be gay, in such a jocund company"- Wordsworth; "the jolly crowd at the reunion"; "jolly old Saint Nick"; "a jovial old gentleman"; "have a merry Christmas"; "peals of merry laughter"; "a mirthful laugh" [syn: jocund, jolly, jovial, merry, mirthful] 3: given to social pleasures often including dissipation; "led a gay Bohemian life"; "a gay old rogue with an eye for the ladies" 4: brightly colored and showy; "girls decked out in brave new dresses"; "brave banners flying"; "`braw' is a Scottish word"; "a dress a bit too gay for her years"; "birds with gay plumage" [syn: brave, braw] 5: offering fun and gaiety; "a gala ball after the inauguration"; "a festive (or festal) occasion"; "gay and exciting night life"; "a merry evening" [syn: gala(a), festal, festive, merry] 6: *****exual or arousing *****exual desires [syn: queer, homophile(a)] n : someone who practices *****exuality; having a sexual attraction to persons of the same sex [syn: *****exual, ****]

KT - I have a pair of SIDI Dominators that are very similar to the Sidis illustrated in foehn's post. Mine are size 51 (to fit my size 16 feet) to boot. The "spikes" make it easy to walk around. I'm new to road riding, and am no expert on shoes. They are a little "busy" with all the logos and all, but at least they are essentially black. I like mine so far.

Read between the lines. That was his point. He employed sarcasm.

You obviously haven't been looking very hard. Performance has tons of shoes by cannondale and shimano that look like normal light hiking shoes. Sandals too.

Like I stated earlier, when I first posted I had only looked at my LBS and one or two website. Through good users here, I have been led to some other great places to look.

A tank top? King, don't be that wife beater guy. The only place where a tank top is appropriate is on reruns of "Cops."

At least you are wearing black shorts.

If there really was a fashion police....I'd probably be living in fashion jail....and not really worried about it! LOL

Sadly...I'm a "tank top" guy....have been since my teen days. And...NO I'm not a redneck and/or on any episodes of "Cops".

Not since 1993 when I cut my 24 inch pony tail.....so short its nearly bald now a days.

But....I do live in FL...that probably makes me 20% redneck by default.

I've had 3 pair of clipless shoes, not one of ever reminded me of something Liberace would have worn. Diadora, Pearl Izumi, and now Sidi.

Also, dun touch my harbl!

I think your shoes and helmets should both come out of the closet!

A few posts here were funny, some were stupid and bigoted. Overall, as a gay man with a great sense of humor, I find it to be offensive and mean spirited. Some people believe that it is OK to say anything hurtful, as long as it is "just a joke." Some of these people even got through junior high, probably not many. Obviously, this "king termite" character is a troll. He knew exactly what kind of response he would get when he started this thread. I hope the moderators keep an eye on king termite. Hatred has a way of snowballing.

You very, very wrong. I really meant no negative connotation toward *****exuals. I am not a troll and troublemaker, and never expected the response that came. I apologize for any mistaken conotations, but I really meant no offense to *****exuals.

It's quite obvious that political correctness is still in HIGH DEMAND (always been a weak spot of mine) and many people here seem to have a weak sense of humor.

Please guys and gals....lighten up a bit and take it as humor with a grain of salt. If anybody was offended, then I say I aplogize, but please loosen up a bit.

Maybe the OP should have used a better word?:

queer Audio pronunciation of "queer" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (kwîr)
adj. queer·er, queer·est

1. Deviating from the expected or normal; strange: a queer situation.
2. Odd or unconventional, as in behavior; eccentric. See Synonyms at strange.
3. Of a questionable nature or character; suspicious.
4. Slang. Fake; counterfeit.
5. Feeling slightly ill; queasy.
6. Offensive Slang. *****exual.
7. Usage Problem. Of or relating to lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, or transgendered people.

n.

1. Offensive Slang. Used as a disparaging term for a *****exual person.
2. Usage Problem. A lesbian, gay male, bisexual, or transgendered person.

tr.v. Slang queered, queer·ing, queers

1. To ruin or thwart: “might try to queer the Games with anything from troop movements... to a bomb attack” (Newsweek).
2. To put (someone) in a bad position.
That would have been construed the wrong way also.

Semantics aside, what kills me is why are so many people so afraid of ****'s - men or women? Jesus Christ, it's just their sex life and nobody's business anyway - it's not like they're going to eat your children and burn your house down.

Oh, I forgot! The only "good" people are "Conservatives" aka Religious Right, most of whom no doubt have had sex with their parents or other assorted farm animals - in the missionary position, of course.

Thank you.

Was it really my first post and title that caused the commotion or some of the other responses to it early on?

I rather like the Adidas Adistar Roads. Never thought of them having sexuality other than man's shoes or women's shoes.

shhh, you used a word that is on the Newspeak controlled list. If you don't watch out the political correctness police will get you. Ooops... too late.

I agree they look gay, but I still wear them. They're functional. Although I like black rather than the bright colors.
