So Close Yet So Far!
With my day off from work today I decided to pull out the bike, with training as much as I have, I decided to try and complete my first century. I left the house with a few water bottles, my full camelback and a few things to eat. My ride started out smoothly though it was really hazy/hot/humid...Within 20 miles of my ride I had gotten a nail in my tire and I had completly forgotten to pack my spare tube. Luckly I was less than a mile from a LBS and I got my tire fixed. I continued on my ride, no real problems occured. I started to become fatigued around the 40-45 mile marker and my back had started to hurt. I went kept working through the pain and the heat. By the time I was around 65 miles I got caught in a passing thunderstorm. The rain was coming out in buckets and within seconds I was soaked. By the time I was out of the storm I was approached 70 miles and I was really feeling out of it. I had gotten back home only 20 miles short of century . I ended up biking 81 miles, and I went home tired and sore...Maybe next time.
81 miles on a bike is an accomplishment in my book! I'm going for my first 50 on Friday.
