What's the right price for a 7300FX?
I visited my LBS yesterday, looking to purchase my first bike. The model I'm pretty set on is the Trek 7300FX. The salesman quoted me at $419 - that seems a little high. I'd like to patronize the local shop as opposed to going on line, but am I getting ripped off?

The local Trek shop in my side of IL sells the 7300fx for 419.99. This shop was lower in price than the bigger shop in Iowa. If the bike is a 2005, I would say that is a good price.

Bikes: 2006 Scott Speedster S20, 2005 Trek 7200FX, 1988 White Cannondale Criterium Single Speed Conversion, 1986(?) Peugeot...I don't know what model it is, but it's a road bike

$419 sounds about right. I looked at a 7300FX before settling on my 7200FX (bought for $339). They seem to be basically the same bike, but the 7300FX had disk brakes. Good choice!

That's about what it should be, and you're not going to find that one online-Trek expressly forbids internet sales.

I'm about to fork over $450 after tax for mine (NYC tax...). I can't wait!! This will be the first bike I've ever purchased--I've always gotten bikes for birthdays or from friends, but I went and picked out *my own, my very own bike*!

I got my 7300FX for $419 as well, so it sounds like none of us got taken. It doesn't have disc brakes on it for that price though.

$419.99 is Trek's MSRP. I would guess you could get it for $400 or a little less or have the shop throw in things like bottle cages.
