another newbie question...shaving ankles?

What's up with that? It seems kind of odd, being still the outsider to cycling that I am.

I've heard of people shaking their whole legs, but not just their ankles...

Mine are.

At least when I'm wearing "cute" socks.

Is this something limited to MTB, or do roadies do this as well? Just curious - I myself have natural goat leggings, and I don't intend to change that.

In some other threads, I noticed comments about pulling up their pant leg to show their shaved ankles, I guess it could have been the whole leg was shaved. In the "loser at work trying to take credit for riding he doesn't do " thread, there was this comment "Just wear the tightests spandex you can HOT PINK that'll drive the ladies wild and then ask your boss where are his and make sure your ankels are showing"

Is it like swimming? You go faster when you shave?

If you believe it helps, you'll probably be slightly faster. Other than that, no.
