Posting pictures so frustrating. Why?

A friend just visited Italy on a bike tour. Sent me some really neat pictures on a Kodak site, I think it is. Wanted to post them because they are amusing. Well, I tried. Saved them to my jpeg file. Pulled it up on the manage attachments.
The title I gave it came up after I selected the browse button. Just would not attach themselves to my attempted thread. Was to feature the Italian Military bike brigade in full military bike kit...
Bike kit really neat, but why in Red, White , and Blue..? Italy !...
Let me ride all over Italy, I would not mind being drafted into that military unit. ?! Except for what looked like a hat with a redicilious looking plumed feather..! Not a helmet but a hat. Kit I would wear w/o the hat/feather. Please..At least unlike the Giro not in pink jerseys. Wanted to share this pic with you. another picture to share. Well, the Giro winner in pink as we all know.
My friend sent me a picture of a womans' clothing store. Bianchi wrapped in pink paper. with women's intimate items strewn about the handlebars, etc. Cool shot. All the apparel pink of course.
Well, the military kit is now a desktop screen saver. But would not attach to my thread, which I deleted. Why. ? It is in my documents..Why can't I post it here at Bike Forums.

After you used the browse feature to reference the file, did you remember to click "Upload"? Also, be aware that there is a filesize limit. Another option would be to upload the pictures to an image hosting site such as Flickr and then reference them using [IMG] tags.

Khuon. I did upload . No message indicated why it did not upload. If too big a filesize limit, would not a message indicate such..Just nothing happened. Some of these 'image hosting sites.' Don't they disallow posting jpeg files from their sites?
My friend Ron posted his pictures with Yahoo Photos.

Yes. Odd. It would tell you if the file was too big. When you click "Upload", you should see a new picture listed as an attachment along with its filename and size. I believe the size limit is something like 100k.

Some do... others are okay with it. I use flickr mainly for moblogging (I also run my own image hosting site on my personal webserver) and I believe it allows me to link directly to images on there. I'm going to try it right now...

When enclosing the URL for the image from flickr, you will need to strip off everything past ".jpg" or whatever extension your file happens to be in so that the BikeForums software can recognise it as an actual image. In my case, I had to strip out "?v=0" which is cruft that gets passed out as forms parameters.

I highly recommend flickr. Hell, the random image on the front page for the flickr website right now has a woman on a bicycle!

Khuon. The Yahoo picture web site advertises something about ordering pictures posted on their site. Might indicate motivation.?but, if the picture is invalid why did I sucessfully save them to my picture file and not receive some kind of invalid file message? love the pink women's undergarments decorating a Bianchi.

I don't know. Is the extension on the file okay?

When you've uploaded the file, you should see something like this in your Manage Attachments dialog box.
