I rode my bicycle past your window last night...

"I rode my bicycle past your window last night,
I roller skated to your door at midnight.
It almost seems... like your avoiding me..."

This is probably my favorite TV advert. A girl is going shopping while this song plays in the background. Anyone seen it?

Haven't seen it. What are they advertising? Is it on more than one network?

Aren't those lyrics from "I got a brand new pair of rollers skates, you got a brand new key" by Melanie back in 1970?

That's it. It's funny but for some reason I was actually thinking of that song yesterday, when someone told me they got a new set of campagnolos so I sang, "I have a brand campagnolo, you have a brand new bike", to that meldody.

I just add it to the "cycling songs" that I've made up, like this one:

the tune of "that smell" by Lynrd Skynyrd

Oohhh that hole! Watch out for that hole! Oooh that hole! You'll have to go around it!

Another variation, referring to idiotic drivers:

Ooooh that shmuck! Watch out for that shmuck! OOoohh that shmuck! He's talking on his cell phone!

There's another variation about the Camilllien Houde parkway, a notorious climb in the city upon which cyclists do their nightly torture session:

Ooohh the Houde! Watch out for the Houde! OOooh the houde! The Houde is gonna kill ya!

I guess I better not give up my day job and be a songwriter, LOL.

Well, there's a concept! Rearrange popular music and titles for biking. How about....

Spears' Oops I'm Biking Again
Bobbie Jo Gentry's Ode To Bikin' Joe
Eagle's Bike In The Fast Lane
Rogers & Hammerstein's Bikelahoma
Cyrus' Achey Breaky Bike
Jim Carrol's People Who Biked
Queen's Bike-hemian Rhapsody

OK, that sucked. Don't even say anything.

It's an add for Alltell mobile phones. I didn't know this song had been around so long. Actually, I didn't know it was a song at all- I thought they just made it up for the advertisement.

I drove my tractor through your 'aystack last night
I threw me pitchfork at your dog to be quiet
Now something's tellin' me that you're avoidin' me
Come on now darlin' you got something I need

Chorus:
'Cause I've got a bran' new combine harvester and I'll give you the key!
Come on now let's get together in perfect harmony,
I've got twenty acres, and you've got forty-three
Now I've got a bran' new combine harvester and I'll give you the key!

...

We made up another song about a friend of ours. He not only looks like Erik Zabel but he's also a sprinter, so we made up a song, to the tune of "Little old lady from Pasadena"

Everyone knows nobody's more able
Than the guy who looks just like Erik Zabel
He sprints real fast, he sprints real hard
He's the terror of Beaconsfield Boulevard.
He's the guy who looks like Erik Zabel!

Shades of Woodstock.

A couple of months ago I was channel surfing and saw a music video with Natalie Imbruglia (sp?) singing while riding around on a Sting Ray type bike, wearing platforms and bell-bottoms.

Maybe I shouldn't worry about my wife showing the old pictures.

I still have the 45 somewhere. It was the first single I ever bought.

(That means it was a record. They were black vinyl things that played music before CDs were invented.)

Did these black vinyl things look Like CDs and if so could you play it in a CD player. Mabye even better yet play it in a DVD player and watch the video.

I tried getting one into the CD player but gee, turns out they're pretty fragile. Splintered all over the place.
