Just got a bike! =)

So I buckled down, did some ebay shopping, and picked up one of these...

http://montagueco.com/productmx.html

a Montague MX. I was the highest bidder and got it for $384 + shipping. Not a terribly good price, but I'm glad I didn't cheap out and buy a $189 YOUPAL piece of crap.

How good of a deal did I get? I haven't heard anything bad about montagues @ all....

They are trying to market bikes of this type to police/military agencies, and they sent us a flyer. The spec I looked at wasn't too impressive. This one seems to have some fairly decent components for this price range....Alivio is middle of the road.

I haven't examined one; let us know how it works!

I will indeed keep ya'll posted.

From what I have read around though, one of the strengths of this bike is its make up of many industry standard parts, thus allowing easier parts upgrades.

My main requirement was to get a foldable bike, there was no way I would have gotten anything else (i need something highly portable to take from school to parent's home)... so, this fit my bill as well as I could have hoped.

"industry standard parts" just means they used stock shimano parts like the rest of the 5697712399 bikes that are being sold today. They didn't do anything special nor did they give any consideration anyways.

I see I see, so can someone answer whether I overpaid for it @ $384?

Hummer and Sams Club in the same post. Must fight urge to rant...

That Montague is one odd looking bird. How does it ride? I usually try not to get hung up on issues like price. If you like it and can afford it, who cares? You already bought it didn't you? Just ride it man!
