Oh god I'm chubby...

I commute 100 miles a week, I ride another 50-100 miles on the weekend, I started jogging... I just got back from a race and realized... I have love handles. I'm 5' 7" and 150, what the hell..

It's all about the eats!

toomyus 07-24-05 09:24 AM

lol, just genetics. ur gonna have to isolate that problem with cardio and situps and stuff. cycling makes u loose weight but it doesnt change ur genetical shape, that is up for u to do in the gym . so best of luck and never give up.

lala 07-24-05 09:32 AM

Oh, get over it! :)

BostonFixed 07-24-05 09:33 AM

It's just a little something more for the ladies to hold onto... ;)

2manybikes 07-24-05 10:18 AM

welcome to my world........ :(

hey you want that last donut?

islenska 07-24-05 10:34 AM

at 5'7", 150 you are not chubby. just do some core exercises and your midsection will tighten right up.

Kyle90 07-24-05 10:37 AM

5'5" 173, lol..

roadfix 07-24-05 10:39 AM

Good info:

Clean Eating

Loose Fat

and just be happy all you have to moan about is some love handles. I am 6'2", 280lbs (after loosing 85lbs in the last 1.5 years), and I still have big swining breasts and a lot of "insuration" around my gut. I follow a lot of the things in those two links, and I am hungry all the time. I workout everyday, bike everywhere, and this year alone I have been hit twice by cars, been run off the road by an old lady going the wrong way in the bike lane, and I have bounced off the road twice after breaking various bike parts by cranking too hard.

Hope you feel better about your situation. And seriously, read those links.

6'0'', 225. you want to talk chubby? Hehe

slvoid 07-24-05 01:00 PM

Ok ok guys, fine, I'm not chubby. :p
I'm just picky, I mean, of all the stuff I do, I was hoping to trim a little more body fat. If I want to be in shape to compete in an ironman, I better shape up...

timmhaan 07-24-05 01:04 PM

slvoid - you know how skinny i am right? well, even at my 5'11 and 145 lbs, i have a tad of a stomach. it's weird, i guess cycling doesn't lend itself well to the stomach area. i see tons of cyclists (many who are really good) sporting guts.

We gotta start jogging more. 5am tomorrow morning, I'll see you in the park. :p
I hear if you climb a lot, it works your stomach more.

ch0mb0 07-24-05 01:40 PM

that aint fat, that's chi
a whole lotta chi.

Fattony67 07-24-05 02:24 PM

you gotta hit the weights at the gym. Focus on chin-ups, puch ups on stabity balls and shoulder work, it's worth looking into hiring a good personal trainer to design a weight training program. the best way to lose the love handles is to increase your leasn muscle mass. Eat at least one gram of protein per pound of body weight.

slvoid 07-24-05 02:49 PM

I can do reps of 20-25 chin ups and pullups. But I don't think it's working anything below my chest and shoulders. I'm poor, so that rules out the personal trainer. I guess I'll have to live with this chi.
It's no big deal, I was just feeling myself up after my ride this morning and felt that my love handles were larger than I thought they would be.

Make yourself puke after every meal. Works for the super models.

Olebiker 07-24-05 05:35 PM

Hell, man, I'm 5'8" and weigh 205, down from 232. You're just skin and bones.

Hey that's great. Now just keep it off. One winter 3 years ago, I mutated into a human caricature of a potato. I was 5'8" and tipped the scales at 236 +/- an ounce or two. When I was able to stand I couldn't see my feet fer Chris sakes, never mind the other equipment lost in the folds. I spent the most miserable Spring I have ever endured bringing my weight down to less comical proportions. I will never let myself get that big again. While I am not totally happy at 190, it sure beats the slug I used to be.

slvoid 07-24-05 06:39 PM

Ok... you guys are making me feel bad now.

greywolf 07-24-05 06:55 PM

Just think how much bigger you would be without the cycling !You may be a little over weight but you gota be fit with all those miles every week !
