Huffy Recumbent and department store tandem

I saw this at Meijer yesterday. Although Huffy is not respected by many here on the forums I think they have their place, an extremely affordable (and hopefully safe) way to try out a new activity. They also had a tandem, not sure of the manufacturer though. Anyway, I thought they were interesting.

I disagree strongly.

Huffy's and the like are for people who don't understand the difference between features and quality. If you buy a Huffy bike to try out, chances are it won't be much fun and it collects dust in the garage. Besides the money that was wasted "trying out" the Huffy, you've also lost all of the potential fun because you would have given up on bicycling before you gave it a fair try on a decent quality machine.

Even if you decide that you like bicycling enough to buy a better bike, you basically have to add the price of the Huffy onto the cost of whatever you eventually buy for yourself.

Either way it looks like a loseing deal to me.
