I'm fond of the Zefal Cyclops. It is adjustable to a large degree, not shaky, has a great field of view, and won't get in your way if you use barends on a flat bar bike.

Here's a write up on some of the different types, and brands. Sounds like the "Take a Look" mirror is a good one. It is available on Amazon.

There is no mirror to beat this one and I've tried most of them. None are as durable or as rigid on the bike and I have sworn by this mirror for many years. A great buy, my first one lasted about 20 years.

I'm a fan of the eyeglasses mounted mirrors. I used to like Third Eye until I tried Take a Look.

I had one of the eye-glass mounted ones as well, and it was quite nice. vibration-free, and gave good visibility.

For those who want something unusal, this guy makes beer bottle cap mirrors
similar to the Take A Look for your glasses. He doesn't have a web site, but will email you a pdf version of the standard caps and a pdf order form.

He'll also custom make you one out of any bottle cap you send him.

For a pdf file of available bottlecaps, his email address: dickbird@cox.net

I have one of those, too, that I use in conjunction with my Zefal Cyclops. Great combination!

I couldn't adjust to helmet mirror, so I use this:
https://www.performancebike.com/shop/....cfm?SKU=15318

You didn't mention type of bike you have. I mounted the mirror between the hoods and the drops as I use the bar end for additional light. Mirror does not interfer with shifting and now noone sneaks up on me. It is wide angle, that's its only drawback.

If you're looking at one that's helmet-mounted, Performance carries one called the CycleAware Reflex that's excellent. https://www.performancebike.com/shop/profile.cfm?sku=847

I'm very happy with this one as well.
