Advice on a new pair of Shoes Please

I've decided I need a second pair of bicycle shoes, just to give the first pair time to dry out. This hot spell we're going through can generate the sweat ;)

I curently have Shamno MTB shoes and was planning to get another pair. The LBS's largest size was a little too small. They had another brand that didn't have laces but velcro straps. The shoes were very comfortable I almost got them, but then said hey let me think about it.

What do y'all think? Are the velcro strap shoes ok or does the velcro give up or slip or...?

Thanks
Joe

I've never heard of bike shoes that had laces. Velcro is pretty much standard. It doesn't slip.

Just about every "road" shoe I've seen is velcro only, so it must have it's redeeming qualities. You don't say what you're actually doing with the shoes so it's kinda hard to comment as to the suitability.

I say if the shoe feels comfortable, go for it.

Thanks guys.

What am I doing with them:
Short (12-20 mile) rides a couple of times a week longer weekend rides. Did one century in July and an MS150 is June. Planning on the 4 day tour de peanut in September. That's when it would really be good to have an exta pair so one can be drying out when I using the others. And yes the pedals on my Bianchi Vlope are MTB pedals.

I have some old road bike shows which have laces and velcro.

Many Lake shoes only have laces. http://www.nashbar.com/nashbar_photo...m/LK-M60M5.gif

I thought everyone had at least two pairs of bike shoes. ;)

My commuting shoes (Diadora, Exustar) and my road shoes (PI, Northwave, and Exustar) all have velcro. It never slips. That's why they use it.

Both pairs of shoes that I use have laces and velcro. Could probably do with just velcro, but I didn't design them. ;) You do have a good idea getting a second pair to let the first dry out if you plan on lots of back to back long riding days.
