No deals at Pearl Izumi outlet store
So, here I am sitting in a hotel room in Gainesville, Georgia, waiting for the sun to go down so I can go to sleep and get up to go ride Six Gap tomorrow (well, actually, I'm just doing Three Gap). I went up to Dahlonega earlier and picked up my registration packet. Pearl Izumi had a display there and pointed out that they have an outlet store just down the road in Dawsonville.
Thinking that I might be able to pick up some good deals, I took the short trip. My expectation of an outlet store is that it is a place where you can get a good deal. Not at this place. My LBS sells Pearl Izumi for less than these guys. Only good thing was that there was a good pizza shop next door with Newcastle on tap.

Same is true at the PI store in Bend, Or. Most of the stuff in the store is running apparel with last years cycle jerseys at next years prices. Not even good food nest door, just Bass Shoes, screw that!

I think PI stuff is over priced...the only reason I do have a bunch of PI stuff is because I bought them at a (sewing) factory-closure for <$5 a piece.

I had the same experience with the Pearl Izumi outlet store up in Silverthorne, CO. Seemed more like a standard PI retail store with a slightly bigger sale rack to me. Most of the stuff on the sale rack was extreme sizes (XS, XXL, XXXL) and mostly their very entry-level shorts and jerseys. The rest of the gear they had was at full retail prices. Amazing, considering my LBS has 10% off all PI gear pretty much year round.
Fortunately the J. Crew outlet store nearby makes the trip worthwhile.

Really, What's the name of this "sewing factor" and where are they located? PI fits me the best and for that price, I'll send them a fat check.

You've got to "hit it right" to get the deals at the PI outlet. I visit the Dawsonville store fairly frequently. The best deals are on the closeout merchandise (the racks in the back of the store) and they regularly offer an additional 15% off that stuff - including last year's cycling shoes. I've even bought pretty good running shoes there for the low low price of $19.99!

Like Peekay said, you've got to hit the stores at the right time. While most of the PI Outlet store stuff is priced at retail when it's in season, you can get good deals on the closeout racks, and on out of season gear. I got some of the Vapor carbon road shoes at the PI outlet here in Silverthorne, Colorado for $70 (normally $170).
And Stubacca, you should have also checked out the Mountain Sports Outlet near the PI Outlet. They carry closeout stuff from the PI store, as well as other random items. I got a nice PI jersey there for $30.
