How long did you "lurk" the BF website before finally signing up as a member?
I "lurked" for about 10 minutes and realized right away I should sign up.
Why would someone "lurk" and never become a member? Do some members just not login unless they locate a thread they want to comment on? |
15 minutes and I was hooked. Yep, this forum sure has grown since I've been here. See over there >>>>>>>? That all used to be empty space, now look what Joe and everybody has done to the place.
Hehe..I remeber that guy who used to complain 'bout people usin' WD-40 on chains...y'all remember him, he was kinda rude and all...what was his name..? aww nevermind. Oh yeah, welcome...don't be 'fraid to chime in now, ya hear? |

I lurked for a week or 2: didn't have much to say at first and figured I'd read the back posts before asking repeat questions.
I was actually a mentor on another site for web development. In late 2000 early 2001 Joe was a member of that forum asking questions and asking for people to give opinions on the look and feel of the site. I ended up doing a review for him. A year later I got into biking, remembered this site, and came back to join. I Never officially lurked :)
I found the site and joined. No need to "lurk" since it was a cycling site. If it turned out to be a $hity place I would have not returned.

I signed up immediately also. Stumbled upon the site looking for bicycle touring resources on the web. Someone in the touring forum was bashing Ohio, stating it was a boring place to ride. I had to stand up and defend my state!!!
i kept running into this forum everytime i searched for something bike related on the internet. it was a headset issue i was looking into and found a good discussion on here. since i had a question of my own, i decided to post. now, over 3,000 posts later i'm still here. it's a home away from home.
I lurker for s week or two. The reason for lurking, to see if there was any worthwhile information being posted. Too many forums have posts full of smarta$$ remarks.
I lurked for a couple months, but I think I am the exception and not the rule. I found the site before I bought a bike. I used the site to help me decide if this was a direction I wanted to take. When I decided that I was going to start to ride, I signed up.
PS. It was a great decision! |
I lurked for about 1 month, signed up, but didn't post for another month or so until after I got my road bike. I figured I didn't have anything to contribute until that point, so why bother posting for the sake of posting?
When I first joined under a different username, I knew next to nothing about bicycle mechanics, so I lurked a lot to familiarize myself with them. After about a year I'd learned enough where I felt comfortable posting and couldn't remember my password for the other name, and the rest is history.
I lurked long enough to read a thread I found though Google. singed up and posted a comment on the situation in western Dane county.
minutes... it reminded me of an email user list at a former place of employment... I missed the discussions we had there...
BF has a wider base of users, yet the discussions are nearly the same. |
I googled "Bi Female" and got here. It was interesting enough so I never left. It's all BF if you ask me.

Forget how long I lurked, but it probably was less than 24 hours. :)
Coupla weeks. This isn't the only game in town, so I meandered about to get a feel before finding a 'home'.
15 minutes of lurking. Couple more to find and fill in the sign-up.
I lurked around in this forum for almost 6 months before signing up. I was on a french speaking cycling forum before it got too crowded and impossible to get some meaningful exchange. The spelling (not just typos) on that forum became really horrible over the years.
Seriously like two years. I finally couldn't bite my tonge any longer.
I lurked through some fifty-odd posts and then joined.
I was also referred, so lurked for about 1 minute.
