Used to commute on an Peugeot mountain bike (POS) when I was stationed in southern Italy a few years ago. 12 miles each way on dirt "roads", no lights to speak of along the way other than my little generator powered bike light, and flocks of sheep were one of the many hazards along the route. Wish I had a nice commute like that now

Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, California, Washington, Oregon, Okinawa, Spain (Barcelona), Taiwan (Taipei), Mexico (Baja... the whole thing), France, (just a bit in Bandol).

Have toured from San Francisco to the tip of Baja, and from San Diego to Ft Worth, TX.

One place I really want to get in some long rides is southern France... I rode a scooter about and saw a few towns and rode a local's bike a bit in one town. The roads there really impressed me... and I would love to do a long tour there.
