Where have you cycled?

I have a little goal where I would like to cycle in as many provinces, states, etc. in as many different countries in the world as I can. Over the past 3 or 4 years, the numbers have been adding up!! :)

Canada - British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Ontario

US - Washington, Oregon, California, Wyoming, Colorado, North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Illinois

Australia - Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania, ACT

UK - England, Wales

France

I'm hoping to get Montana and Idaho in, maybe this year, or maybe early next year. I'm also hoping to perhaps cycle in some of the eastern States and Provinces toward the end of next summer.

In what countries, provinces, states, etc. have you cycled?

Good thread Machka. I have a goal of doing a century in each of the 50 states. So for this year I did 3, but the are all in Colorado. I have one scheduled for Indiana in October. Also, I have a goal of doing one century every month. Since I just got my bike in March, I will start that goal this January.

By the way, great report on the Last Chance. I live in Colorado Springs, and have driven across Kansas and Eastern Colorado several times. It can be pretty bleak. But at least it's flat.

Learned to ride, then learned to ride in snow and ice in Woodbury, CT (balloon-tire Columbia cruiser); introduced to wide spectrum of cycling at school in Watertown, CT (road bike, English 3 speed, traditional British rod-braked roadster); went on trips to the Cider Mill near Vassar in Poughkeepsie, NY (English 3 speed); nearly died when left-crossed by a cager in Seattle, WA (road bike).

Today, I commute and run errands in Arlington, VA and Washington, DC (European city bike). When on vacation on Ocracoke Island, NC, we rent bikes (modern cruisers) and trailers (Trail-a-Bike for daughter, InStep Turbo Trailer for beach gear).

Bikes as autobiography...

I have a goal of riding in all 50 states. So far I have Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Conneticut, Maryland, Virginia (the first one I rode in outside of the 4 Corners area and my first tour), Wisconsin, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa (bleach! ;) ), Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, New Mexico, Colorado (of course), Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Utah, Washington, Oregon and California. That's 26! I'm half way there!

Let's see, in the US: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Utah, Arizona, California (Death Valley), Washington.

Europe: Greece, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, France, England, Wales, Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland.

Have you been following me? ;) Wherever I ride I keep seeing a phantom in my rear view mirror. Is that you?

womble 09-26-05 04:30 PM

Hmm... I've never kept track of states or provinces, but here goes, arranged by continent:

Australia
England
Wales
Netherlands
China
Hong Kong (before it became part of China!)
Canada
USA
Chile
Argentina
Brazil
Ghana

I don't have any particular goal to cycle in different places, it just happens occasionally.

Could be. Several times, a wild-eyed cyclist has blown by me mumbling something about pie.

I've ridden a few miles in Quebec. I was in Idaho on the bike when I did Cycle Oregon a few years back (we started on the Oregon / Idaho border), but I only rode one bike length there, so I can't really count that.

I think that's it.

So far, only Eastern Canada, from Sault-Sainte-Marie to St. John's, Newfoundland. And with young children at home, my territory won't expand soon.

US-- PA, OH, FL, WI, WA, WY, WV, OR.

I loved cycling in parts of South Africa, but there are many drunks, high speeds and wide tandem state-owned beer trucks and smaller width roads.

South Africa, -- Grahamstown, Cape Town, Joburg.
Zimbabwe--Bulawayo to Victoria falls.

Id like to bike in China and New Zealand some day.

plin 10-11-05 07:50 AM
