www.bontrager.com
Q. How do you pronounce Bontrager?
A. We get that a lot!
Bon -- Bon-fire
-tra -- Tra-gic
-ger -- Grrr

As for Jamis, they have never added that to their faq, in fact someone has been so lazy they never added the faq for a few years now, even though older versions of their site had one, but this isn't in there. I'm gonna go with Jay miss as the sound of the last name Jamison. Why don't we ask them.

I just threw the 'chamois' comment in there to confuse everyone... I pronounce Jamis like it is French so it sounds like Chamois.

Wouldn't Jamis in french be "jah-mee," while chamois would be "cham-wah?" Je ne parlez pas france.

Maybe we just need a whole "How do you pronounce ..." sticky thread. For instance, in my mind I always thought it was "s-ram" (have no idea why I ever thought that), then the mechanic at my LBS says "shram" (and I have no idea if he's right).

He's not.

"Q.What does SRAM mean?

A.SRAM is the conglomeration of our founder's names, Scott, Ray and sAM. The initials provided a simple way to come up with a corporate name that could be trademarked and directly translated into languages other than English. It is not pronounced S-RAM, SchRAM, or SkRAM. Just SRAM."

halfspeed...thanks for the info. SRAM is it!

I should have known not to trust the pronounciatation advice of a wrench in TX! I'm not a native Texan..California born and bred with no accent, dude. We (since I've been here 12 years now) certainly butcher our share of words (mostly of spanish origin, but we're not picky). For example...

Bexar (a county name) = Bear
Boerne (a town) = Burney
Guadalupe = Gwadaloop
Pedernales = Purd-n-alice

Zhah-meese. Is that more French-like? Or is that the plural of moose?

Giro is pronounced "jeer-o"

I too used to say S-RAM. My LBS guy calls it just "SRAM", I've started pronoucing it that way too.

It took me a while to realize that Lycra is not spelled Lyrica. Doh!
